Now we all know all about Richard III !!

Updated: Nov 1, 2024

WELL - the weather forecast was pretty awful in the run up to our annual walking weekend at Market Bosworth - just two miles from the Battlefield. However, somehow most people managed to avoid the showers, came well prepared with waterproofs and sensible footwear and we survived the weekend unscathed - apart from one broken down Landrover (nothing to do with the weather!)

The walks were just right and catered for all abilities in one way or another. The Heritage Railway came in handy for those who were 'one-way' walkers and it entertained others who didn't walk with us at all.

Most of us are now up to speed with the Battle of Bosworth and the events which brought about the end of Richard IIIs short reign. It was fascinating to explore the Exhibition which was so well presented and funded by Leicestershire County Council. We dined very well at the 1485 Tithe Barn Cafeteria and were well looked after by Sarah and her team.

After a couple of hiccups with the hotel, which in retrospect were more a cause for amusement than irritation, everyone accepted that the location and the opportunities for walks, places of interest to visit and time to be together to enjoy each others company - and TALK - more than made up for any shortcomings at the hotel.

Thank you to everyone who supports the weekends (There is another one in February) They wouldn't happen without you.
